Exit Counseling

If you have a Federal Stafford Loan, it's required that you receive loan counseling before you leave school or graduate. Commonly referred to as "exit counseling", this counseling session is designed to help you prepare for loan repayment. It also provides you with valuable information about your borrower rights and responsibilities, as well as ideas to help you save money.
If your school participates, you can complete this counseling session online at Mapping Your Future — a national collaborative public-service project of the financial aid industry. It provides free college, career, financial aid, and financial literacy services for students, families, and schools. If your school isn't listed as a participant, talk to the financial aid officer at your school to arrange for counseling.
